Dripping Paint From Brush

Postby DJ_Dhrub » Sun Sep 09, 2018 7:46 am

I wanted to create an effect like where someone is putting a brush in a Paint container then after a second getting it out.
I could not achieve it by any means. The tendrils are missing, sometimes the Paint isn't sticking to brush.
Currently, I am using RF Standard Particles.
Settings for the Particles Image
Settings for the Brush HeadImage
Here is the example

Here is the video link as well

Please help me out I need this badly.

hi!
I can't see the images, but the video link is working.

"sometimes the Paint isn't sticking to brush".
I do remember sth. about the "Sticky" parameter not working well with animated geometry, maybe that's the problem. I think it's even stated somewhere in the Help.

I think this was solved for Dyverso though, so i'd try the Liquid-PBD solver, maybe it works well for this.
Then use a very high "Sticky" value for the object
And also check the "DY Interact Distance". This is the area around the surface in which the particles will be influenced/attracted by the object. Make sure that this value is not too high, because then the particles would build up to a big blob around the brush.
If it's too low, no particles would stick to the surface.
What you want is a thin area around the brush that makes the particles stick to the brush, and use a high Sticky value to make a thin paint layer around the brush.
A high surface tension and some viscosity (it's called "Damping" in the Liquid-PBD solver...) for the particles ahould lead to the dripping effect.

That's what i'd try.

Whatever you mentioned didn't help a bit. Sorry, the images aren't opening I would suggest just use Open image in new tab.

Hi,

Here are some settings that may get you stared. I use this for sticky mud and tar.

1. Use Dyverso SPH
2. Set Viscosity to 200
3. Geometry Settings: For each object you want the particles to stick to.

Friction 1.0
Bounce 0
Sticky at least 100
Roughness 0.1
Interaction 1.0

Here you can see how it works and how the fluid drips off the object.

Good Luck,
