Export RealFlow C4D to Element 3D

Postby nandoki » Fri Jun 22, 2018 9:37 am

Does anybody knows how can I export RealFlow C4D animation to OBJ Sequence?

I did an animation in Cinema 4D RealFlow.
I have to import this fluid animation to Element 3D.
After creating animation in RealFlow C4D I did some variations to export it to OBJ Sequence:

1) Riptide Pro (OBJ Exporter)
While its rendering it shows fluid animation, but OBJ files are empty (even imported to Element 3D or opened by C4D)

2) File/Export/Alembic + Riptide Pro (OBJ Exporter)
In this version I tried it first to export to .abc, then open it in C4D and export to OBJ Sequnce, BUT:
the problems are already occuring after exporting to alembic file, because when I open abc file, there are no meshes.

3) Cache Simulation (from RealFlow C4D)
Two problems with this version:
a) It creates lot of abc files (one file for every keyframe)
b) .abc files contains just particles, no meshes

Please, help!
Thanks

Hi

that may not be possible directly inside cinema. I see the problem here, that each mesh or particle file that is shown in the viewport is actually a new one for each step in the timeline. So, if you try to export, Cinema (and Riptide) might see only one file.

What works here is caching the RFC4D animation as abc-files (that is how the cache function works, its always abc), and then merge single abc files as objects. After that you could export the mesh again in any format, however it is a single object.

What would be needed is a converter of abc files to obj.

Thanky you, but how can I merge multiple abc files? Should I open it all one by one, and export one by one?
Problem with this method is that I have 120 files and maybe I have to change something later.

Yes, this is a problem. You find other posts here on the forum about merging abc-files with the standalone version of RF, but that is not an option for RFC4D-users.

I have never tried this type of export to AfterEffects and I don't know if the are other options of baking the animation and exporting in different formats, but I think it would be great if the plugin developers could provide this function. For example, if the maker of Riptide could include this functionality, or Nextlimit would provide different export formats for the meshes other than abc.

Could this method be useful for your purpose? Not sure if it applies to RFC4D though.

SOLVED!!!

Here is how I solved:
It needs RealFlow for C4D + RealFlow 10

1. RealFlow C4D:
- select: Scene
- Cache Folder must be here: C/Users/USERNAME/Documents/realflow/scenes/...
- Cache Simulation (result is lot of .abc files, which we have to stich into one file in next step)

2. RealFlow 10:
- Tools/Stitch alembic files (Output must be: C/Users/User/Documents/realflow/scenes/...)
- Import/Object/...abc (what we stitched)
- Save file
- Select object
- Node Params window/Export: Check: Export Data + Check: Geometry (.obj)
- Export/Export Central/OBJECTS/FileName (drop down) Check: Geometry (.obj)
- Simulate (when finished, the resulted obj files will be here: C/Users/USERNAME/Documents/realflow/scenes/FILENAME/objects)

3. Element 3D:
- Scene Setup/File/Import/3D Sequence: IMPORTANT: Select the SECOND file (...01.OBJ) and NOT the very first (...00.OBJ)!!!
