How to make Ground Dirt soil simulation

Post by 3drogelio » Sat Apr 13, 2019 2:17 am

I am trying to create a close up animation of ground dirt soil being cut through with a blade wheel and having the dirt turn over and then fill back into the cut from the blade. I am using dyverso to try and create this, but no luck. All I can find are tutorials on making snow, but how do I make it look like dirt

Need suggestions on how to do this

Need to make 2 the simulation to mimic loose soil and the other to mimic dried dirt.

Hi

I think heavy snow and mud/dirt are very similar in their physics. You anyway get only particles and a mesh around it from RealFlow.. how you render it with displacement depends then on your 3D software for animation and rendering. You could think about additional gravel and stuff, but then it may not play well with particles and make only problems. So, I would base everything on a granular or viscoelastic simulation and then try to render it as dirt. In the version as loose soil it is the same without cohesion.
This example with snow could be dirt too https://youtu.be/If4XVpIMxJg

Hello ChristianZ,

Than you for the info, that looks like what I need. I use Realflow10 and will be importing the simulation into C4d or Blender.
Would you happen to have a tutorial to create what you did or maybe a screen grab to show the settings?
Also, I am not sure how you got the mesh to look the way you did on the snow. Would you be able to share how you did it?

Greatly appreciate your help,
Rogelio

Hi

have a look at this scene https://www.dropbox.com/s/7isybijcy32yg ... r.zip?dl=0
for the settings. This should produce this type of simulation: https://youtu.be/qgYehJtfndU
An important factor is not only the granular settings, but also the number of iterations in the simulation settings. The higher the number of iterations, the more solid the granular material becomes.
