Can anyone give some advice about how to simulate this splash effect?

Post by vaccuus1 » Sun Mar 24, 2019 3:10 am

Hi,

I am struggling with simulating this effect. I tried crown daemon also tried importing object animation SD file into a pool of liquid, but all failed.
I tried to upload an image, but it said I reached daily limit even I didn't upload anything. Anyways, it's a Aveeno adverstisment youtube video.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi

yes, unfortunately this forum has run out of space for attachments like screenshots long time ago, so we use free uploading services such as tinypic.com or dropbox etc.

Do you want to recreate this effect ? Image

Hi Christian,

Thanks for telling me about the uploading image issue!

Yes, that's exactly what killing me these days! I tried many ways to achieve this but just couldn't get even close.

Do you have some input? :)

It is certainly not totally easy to produce such a splash as you may have to go through many iterations of trial and error. Nevertheless, I think the best way is using the crown daemon. I have tried to use objects falling into baths in the past and came to the conclusion that the limited simulation that we have here is not considering enough parameters such as air pressure, for example, in order to deliver a realistic behavior of object-fluid interaction. So, for such a scene I would make the splash with a crown daemon and place a model of the bottle only later into the scene.
The shape of the crown daemon can be elongated and you can also use several ones slightly shifted in the same scene.
In the attached image is an example of such a shape. The long spikes could be removed at the meshing stage by using more aggressive smoothing to remove the fine spikes.

Hi Christian,

Thanks so much for your effort and time! Your post is very helpful. I'll post my result and how I do it once it gets done, which can take some time as this is a RnD project.
