Condensation?

Post by FA1LURE » Wed Apr 27, 2016 5:50 am

Hello Forum.

I am trying use a black and white texture with dots on it as my emission map.
For some odd reason, Realflow refuses to emit according to the texture I have.

Simple scene.

Object emitter with the texture influencing the Speed parameter.

Geometry from C4D that I exported via the Realflow SD Exporter.
The Geo has the texture on it as well for visual reference.

Surface tension and kSpeed daemons.

This is what it looks like when I simulate. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have had similar issues in the past and its really frustrating.

Thanks!

Hi

object or bitmap-emitter? Bitmap emitter works, make sure that the resolution of the emitter is high enough and that the emission is not colliding with the object below. In this example I used a black image with white dots, RGB-mode in photoshop, saved as jpg.

Hey ChristianZ,

Yeah I was using the object emitter.
I'll give the bitmap emitter a try tonight... but I do not think it will work for me as I need to have the texture uv mapped onto the object I am using.

I modeled a glass (chalice) and I want to generate fluids on the outside of it like condensation.

Can you tell the bitmap emitter to wrap onto an object?

Either way thanks for the reply!

Confirmed. Bitmap emitter only uses an image and can not be uvmapped.

Yeah, pity.

By the way, I don't see the "use texture" option anymore in RF2015 object emitter.

Back to selecting single polygons then....

Right click on Speed and then Load Texture.

Right click on Speed and then Load Texture.
Thanks!
I am constantly neglecting some of the slightly hidden features of RF2015

Unfortunately, the object emitter still uses the polygons and that creates a kind of fragmented emission of particles.

Well that sucks....
So if I export high resolution geometry it could potentially get better?
Kinda of a terrible workflow.

I'll try that tonight if I have time and let you know the results.

Thanks!

Ha.

Still same results with high res mesh.
Oh well.

By the way, what you plan to do here might become much easier with the plugin "RF for Cinema4D" that will be released next month. It seems it can "Use Cinema 4D materials and textures for emitting fluid particles." according to this page:
