Dual Core/CPU with rigid bodies?

Postby KingRoLo » Mon Jan 29, 2007 6:04 pm

Hi, i've noticed when RF sims a scene with purely dynamics (no fluids) it only uses 50% of both processors. Is this a bug or do you think it might be something they will add into a future release?

I do not think it is a bug, but rather points to a lack of multi threading efficiency, indicating less a than ideal code base. I'm no programmer but from what I hear it is no easy task to fully utilize multiple cores.

I have even gotten the point where I will run illustrator or do some light modeling while calculating a sim, something I would have never considered when first introduced to the CFD voodoo.

I'm not counting of NL to rewrite the code but I imagine in time we will get better efficiency and even the much need distributed solving from another vendor.

So for now find something to multi task on!
