Two objects with fluid of same height

Post by madman » Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:29 am

Hi guys
This is my first post.
I need a help to solve an issue in RF
There are two objects without any connection.
I want to fill liquid in both objects with different emitters.
I need to fill them to a particular height.
how is it possible (both objects are of different shape).

Thanks in advance

Are they closed or open objects? If they're closed object eg a cube, then you can a fill object emitter for each and adjust the y axis fill value to govern how full each is - remember to settle the fluid to get accurate results.

If they're open objects you can place an emitter in each and manually fill them to the desired level (much like using a tap). Don't worry if you overshoot one, you can remove the particles to the height required using with a kill daemon or the particle selection tool.

Thanks Shawn.
It was a closed object. I used fill_object.
But as both objects are of different shape and size, I have to find different values for different object.
If it is not working, I will use kill volume.

over fill them them use a k_volume to delete the extra particles to the same height

Indeed, as I said, but use the K volume after settling, not before.

It is taking too much time to settle.
Any tricks to settle faster?
(I tried using k_speed; but still.... ;) )

Patience! Alternatively, when you see the particles reach level, on their way down, or up, stop the sim and run the k speed daemon for a frame or two. Stop the sim, deactivate the k speed daemon (just delete it from the global links and drag it back in from the nodes window when you need it again - it's slightly faster than deactivating it using the node settings)

Do this on and off. You will be baby sitting the sim but it gets the job done a little faster.
