Liquid/Rigid Bodies doesnt interact with Chain-Link Fence!

Postby jandro » Wed May 11, 2011 10:15 pm

Hey Guys!
Here´s my question:
I got a Rigid Body setup in RF5.
A chain-link fence in the middle, some rigid body objects (letters) on one side of the fence and an emitter on the same side.

1st: I want the particles to shoot out the emitter and take the letters on to the fence (but not through it, actually i want the objects to hang in the fence, like fishes in a fishing net :))

2nd: If its not too complicated, I want the fence to interact and move a bit (with soft body?!).

I have some issues with the letters/objects. They float just trough the fence.. :(
Is it possible that the fence is too tiny geometry? How can i solve this problem?!
(I prepared everything with c4d)

Id appreciate every help!
thx a lot

I'd use a plane instead of the fence geometry in the rigid body simulation as it will simulate much faster. Then link the plane to just the rigid bodies and not the rest of the fluid simulation. Faking the fence movement with a lattice (in another application) would be a lot easier than simulating it.

With a lattice or other deformers meant for animation. This will need to be done in another package besides RealFlow.

okey...i think this will be no that much of a problem...
but i run into some new issues with those global links :S

i took the plane (placeholer for fence) out of the global links and dropped it into the exclusives. i dropped the letters (rigid bodies) as childs...but it didnt work :(
when i put everthing back into the global links, the particles stop at the plane, but the letters dont :D
but i want it the other way...
whats my fault?
i dont get it :S

Do you have the objects set to dynamic?

A video showing the problem would help a lot

The plane needs to be a rigid body and the primitive set to plane or to use the geometry. Also the exclusive links go the other way around. The parent is the affected so you'd want each letter as a parent and the fence plane as a child.
