Rigid body interpenetration

Postby mandi » Sun Mar 20, 2011 4:54 pm

Hi there,
I have a problem. I simulate ice cube rigid bodies falling down into a glass. Then the water is pouring into that glass. The problem is that the pouring water pushes ice cubes so that they penetrate the sides of the glass, sticking out of the glass. I set rigidy body dynamics quality to high and tried raising substeps to about 100 min., to no result. Please please help. It's urgent. Thanks in advance,
Artur

Rigid body interpenetration

Hi

yes, I have seen similar problems myself. Some thoughts:

Set the rigid body primitive mode to "box" instead of "mesh". In this way the edges of the boxes reach out farther from the ice cube (assuming that your ice is very much cube-shaped)

Add a slightly smaller copy of the glass object (invisible in the rendering) to have a safety distance to the cubes.
