Meshing shapes inside a liquid

Postby Calibrix » Mon Nov 01, 2010 6:14 pm

Hey guys, I stumbled across this bug today and thought I would share it and the solution I found. When you have a shape inside your liquid you can't mesh it post process. It's like rf can't figure out have to make polys there or something. Anyway, to get shapes inside your mesh (eg bubbles) you have to mesh during your sim. Very annoying and inefficient. But still doable. Does anyone know if this behavior happens in rf5?

It doesn't mesh the "hole" inside of a liquid. So say you have a bubble completely surrounded by water. That bubble won't have a mesh, if you mesh as a post process. but if you mesh while simming it will. Run a simple test to confirm. Animate a sphere moving slowing through a container of particles. Then mesh a single frame that the sphere is completely surrounded. Even though there is a surface to mesh that is inside the water it doesn't mesh. Now do the same thing but mesh while it is simulating. You'll see that it meshes the correct way as you would expect it to.
