Help with RB+SB

This hint in the docs seems to suggest something regarding the limitation of constraints:-
Hint: Remember constraints only have sense in a dynamic environment, so do not forget to set the Dynamics property to Rigid Body in the objects' node.

Care to share?

damn that's weird))), at work i have rf 4.3.8.124 for win x64 and i had no problems setting a soft body object as a part of a constraint, at home i have a trial version of 4.3.8.123 for win x86 and it tells me the same thing as u get when u try to do constrain a soft body :////, tomorrow i'll try again and i'll share the scene.

:) realflow has been known to do odd things.

My test was in 32bits also. I'll try 64bit XP in a mo.

:ninja: No joy in 64bit XP either.

Anyway, how about simulating using the rope constraint in RF on rb objects only, at known points in the objects, then doing the soft body work in your 3d app using the cached rf data.

Shaun

I get this error too in Win Vista 64. :(

Thank you guys so much for considering my question!

Here's what I want to simulate:

The flashlight will be falling, bouncing a bit on the wood surface, and possibly rolling a little too. So I need the flashlight as RB and the string as SB, attached to the flashlight end. I've even conceded to only show a simpler string instead of what is shown in the render above if necessary.

BTW, here's my progress so far (without the string):

I plan much much more for this personal project (for my reel), like adding motion blur, flex in the wood board with dust springing up from the impact, camera movement and focus changes. I've just hit a speed bump with this little problem.

I'll bet you all a freshly baked cookie that it's not an error, but a constraint on, erm, constraints :)

Let's all email NL and demand that they unconstrain the constraints!
