RF4 Fire Simulation

Postby tsn » Fri Aug 10, 2007 6:43 am

Hello MightyG,

that´s a very nice test and the best approach I´ve seen so far (aside from the well known members of the forum, Mark and Oddmood). I think the main problem isn´t the creation of a plume like shape, but vorticity confinement to create those highly disturbed smoke sims.

Very good work!

thanks a bunch.

when you mean controlling the vorticity i think in non-scripting/practicle term as having a collection of animated vortexes within the simulation. is that a practicle approach?

Controlling vorticity in Navier-Stokes based attempts normally works via a turbulance parameter (often called "epsilon"). But these methods aren´t particle driven, they´re working with cells and voxels and that´s not the best idea with RF and Python. I think there´s got to be a completely different approach with RF. I haven´t dealt with this subject by now, but maybe I´ll dive into it : - ?

if anyone does come up with a solution for navier-stokes equations they will get a cool million dollars...

Hey guys, hope this thread isnt as dead as it seems. Ive got some more effects with my fire attempts. ill post soon once the preview is finished.

anyone else get close to Mr. Stasiuk's work?

I played around with the scene from nextlimit's site and got this:
