"wheel splash" scene in RF3 crashs... help needed...

Postby crissy » Wed Sep 13, 2006 10:14 pm

Hello together?
I have a little problem with a ?wheel splash? scene.
Exactly with the ?RWsplash node (=emitter)? in realflow3.

u know... u need this node to emit particle when
for example a wheel cross a Realwave mesh...
to create particle splashes...

By the time I boost the particle amount (RW splash node) a little bit (beyond the default amount).
RF3 crashes? (when press simulate)

The amount of particle (I added) is a joke compared to the amount of our other scenes.
i work here with million and more particle fine.
And this little splash scene crashs my machines... ;)

I think it?s a bug?
It is restorable!
In a lot of new scenes the same? crash!
This emitter crashs always I change the amount?

can somebody restore a little scene...

1. a basic obj. ... add a RWsplash node...
2. in the "RWsplash" node select the obj. as emitter...

no other settings require.
u need no Rwave mesh in the scene... to test my problem.

when press simulate nothing happens = ok...
there is no RWmesh... all ok... not give a damn about
and then boost the default resolution (1) to 50 or 100
and press simulate...
my rf3 (v. 3.1.18.0065) we use... crashs!

I think it?s a bug in this version 3.1.18....
In our RF4 version it works...

We cant use the Rf4... there is no plugin for XSI (we usw for this prj.).
They devolope them this time :(

ok, thanks...

one question: know somebody.. is the 3.1.18 the last released ?
before Rf4 ??

If i get you right i remember having that problem in rf3.
I ended up with density 1 and bin-emitters.

excuse me , but try not to use the (volume) daemon at the start of your scene setup in rf3 cause it sometimes prevent making simulation(bad crash)

use (volume) daemon after simulating a small preview for the first 10 frames for example,,,, tell me if this solution works or not,we may find another way ;)

Always, always, always calculate sims from a command line. You'll use less memory, which means fewer crashes. and it's not too hard to set the thing up to do groups of, say, 20 frames at a time which will sure as hell make it more likely that you'll finish your sim.
