I was just re-reading this and I remembered there is another reason to hardcode animated parameters in scripts. Currently (version 4.2.3.0102) there is a memory leak in the method "getParameter", so if you use an animated parameter on a null to animate your script, if you call it enough you will leak quite a bit of memory. I suspect this will be fixed in the next patch though, as hardcoding animated parameters is ugly.
