Liquid melting/"morphing" into container shop

Postby Sundance » Tue Apr 22, 2014 12:26 pm

Hello realflow people!

I'm currently trying to visualize the roto-moulding process within realflow.

I have a cylindrical container that contains the "molten plastic" liquid. (initial state of pre-emitted particles)
I now want the liquid to stick to the walls while the container is rotating, so that it slowly approaches the shape of the container.

I have tried different things, such as high sticky values for the container, high viscosity and also magic and drag demons… so far no luck, or more specifically: i didn't reach the desired result..

Does anybody have a hint or a simple approach on how to achieve this effect?

Any help is greatly appreciated… thanks in advance! :)

A picture of what you have so far would be helpful, but if I understand you correctly, in addition to Vicsosity, you also a couple of other settings.

In the Object Properties of the cylinder, look under Particle Fluid Interactions.

Try increasing the Particle Friction and Rougness. This will help the particle stick to the walls. Increase these numbers slowly. Too much particle friction will can cause "popping" particles.

Good Luck,

Thanks for your reply!

What state would you like as a picture, or do you mean a picture of the settings?

So far, the problem is that the particles fall off the wall because of the continuous rotation of the container. Is there a way to freeze them on the inner walls of the container somehow?

Thanks again

You could do it with a python script, using the freeze() command.

Unfortunately, i have never used the scripting functionality before.. Do you have a starting point for me, as to what lines of code i would have to add? Would be appreciated - thanks!
