hey there,

i've got a compositing question. im super new to video...

scene a: camera rotating around a plant.

scene b same as a) but i have liquid raining from above the plant onto and through the leaves. the plant doesnt move.

i assume theres a way to render the liquid separately then layer it onto the plant footage but i dunno where to start...

any tips?

thanks a lot!

a little more info...

maybe screenshots will help...

thats a sequence from top to bottom... the camera is rotating around the plant

i have one finished render of just the plant with out the liquid.

and im thinking there must be some way to composite the liquid over the first already finished plant render without having to render the plant again. only the liquid.

the particles are already simulated.

does that make sense?

im thinking about just rendering the particles with the realflow renderkit.

the problem though is that the liquid reflects the plant and the surroundings.

can i somehow simulate the reflections without rendering the plant again?

for anyone in the future having similar issues. i was able to render only the liquid (with reflections etc from the plant surroundings etc.) with the vray compositing tag.

http://www.vrayc4d.com/manual/vrayforc4 ... ompositing

the trick was to use the "matte properties"...

good luck!
