Realflow Contest

Postby Herbert » Sun Sep 24, 2006 11:51 am

Now that we have a Realflow Contest Forum we need a Contest :P

Now its your turn, to make suggestions for a contest - i will leave this thread until end of september open so everybody can post her/his suggestions here.
After that we make a poll to determine the topic of the first contest

Maybe alternitves for using RF, like objects splashing in mud.
The force is strong with this one........

why not doing a contest on something what we never saw in the net. where nobody has done it allready, so everybody has to find his own solutions and everybody has the sam chance.

-something like melting ice or freezing water (damn, this would be a tricky one :P)
-a swirl
-or the effect from terminator 2, when the bad terminator breaks in tousnds of pieces and then get liquid an it atracts them back to the body shape.
all that with nice shaders :D
-a wind mill dynamic which is propelled by air(visible), or a nozzle
-a submarine going underneath watersurface, and then jump out with a big splash...yeeeyyy:D

damn...there are so much cool things.

- a aquarium, and the window breaks and all the water comes out.

(all this sugestions are in condition, that you have a good knowhow of 3d applications, where you have to ad shaders and so on)
it would be cool to just try something, and look what the results will look like

How about we just do the whole terminator effect? I've heard a LOT of people talking about it, so how about we actually re-create it?

What a computer do you have?
I think you can play with low particle counts till you get what you want, and only to simulate up the detailed scene, you can let it calculate over night, ore some days when you don't need youre computer. or simply ask somebody, if he/she has time to let it calculate, and send back the result ;)

So, as nobody is starting, i'll do.
I took a look at the images we got from member ar. Thak you very much. great reference you gave us.

I think it would be very interesting to see, if and how it is possible to get a nice wave braking in shallowly water.

Let's take the attached image as reference.

who will get the closest result will win :first:
:D

-Time: hmmm...let's say 26th October
-Software: RF for sure and a 3D software for the shaders.
-Rules: there must be at least one part of the image done with realflow. not the whole wave (because the huge amount of particles)So this will not be only a contest about doing things with realflow, but about integrating the usage of RF in CG projects.
you may use images for sky and shaders, if you want. but the more is done digital, the better.
-Posting:We could post W.I.P.'s in the W.I.P. forum, or what i would prefer is a subforum with all the W.I.P. threads in the contest forum, only for contest W.I.P.'s (Perhaps the admin could do that)
Posting of still images or of animation, with mesh and shaders, or only particles.
-Voting: I think we should take in consideration, how the final result looks(shaders, mesh, particles?) and if it is a still image or an animation.
the voting should be done of all users who want to vote.

so, who's in??:)
