your test remind me this one with Pulldownit by Adam,

http://vimeo.com/13994630

as you see shell models, like a "tube" are not fracturing correctly with other tools, how is Houdini fracturing shell models?, do you have any test?

how is Houdini fracturing shell models?

Its very good at it. Have a look at some of the shots in 2012, with the buildings falling down. + Johner did an example (on odforce) which is free to download with a more complex yet flexible setup.

well, It is difficult to know if in 2012 they have used shell models or not, I mean, a simply test lke the ones in the previous posts with Pulldownit, Raifire or Bullet, making a tube falling down and breaking, is anyone willing to do the same with Houdini and upload?, it is a simple but very interesting test.

you make this really fast ilayshp, thank you, but the video is in hipnc format, this is a Houdini exclusive format and I cannot see it, I suppose neither many people in this forum, can yuo upload it in a public format like avi or quicktime? Im very interested in seeing it.

This is a quick GL capture of something a clever chap over at odforce call Johner setup as an example of dynamic fracturing with some clever rules and so on.
There are some intersections, but only due to low collision/contact passes.

+ dynamic_boy hipnc is the non commercial file format. Go download Houdini NC from the Side FX site, and have a go....

Hello Carlos. Thanks.
As Jim said, you can to try Houdini.
I thought yours "making a tube falling down and breaking, is anyone willing to do the same with Houdini and upload?, it is a simple but very interesting test." - it's project in H. ;)

Small remark(it does not advertise, i'm c4d user and small houdini/softimage too):
a simply test lke the ones in the previous posts with Pulldownit, Raifire or Bullet

Bullet - is dynamics engine. If shatter/fracture engine, C4D has:
1. Own simple shatter tools(Explosion/ExplosionFX/Shatter), Thinking participle's fragmentation node and Mograph Fracture/PolyFX.
2. Remotion Geotools 2010(Broken Tasse add-in)
3. Valkaari Xplode
4. Adam Swaab's Destruction
5. Codeworkers Lehmann
6. Nitro4d tools

+ Bullet, ODE, and H11 generic can all be used in Houdini, and I believe people have used bullet to do fracturing in Houdini.

realtime particle demolition. per particle shape destruction, with per particle glue, stress resistance and all the mambo.

no pre-fracture, pre-fracture is for loosers :)
