:( Strange interaction with small masses and Dyverso Fluids

Post by asapbender » Sat Aug 24, 2019 2:33 pm

Hey! I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to make objects (rigid Caronte bodies) float on Dyverso (tried both SPH and PBD solvers).
The problem GIFs:

I tried almost everything, different cell size, different scales (from small 1 m objects to 100 meters), interaction settings, substeps settings, resolution, masses etc.
If I make objects heavier they interact more or less okay but they sink in the water instead of floating...
Also I don't want to use particle skinner, because simulation will take decades then and they still interact weird.

All of this makes RealFlow almost unusable for any serious project for me :(

I really hope someone had same issues and know what to do in these cases, thanks a lot for any suggestions!

Hi
this confirms observations I made earlier when comparing legacy particles and dyverso. At the time I did not try very hard to fix it, but at the moment the conclusion seems to be that the legacy particle is the only way to create realistic floating/buoyancy of rigid bodies inside a liquid.

Thanks a lot for answer, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, really surprised that NextLimit not fixed this thing yet.

Sure, if somebody has an idea to improve such situations with Dyverso, I am all ears. On the other hand, I have used the legacy particles for many years for small scenes and now with better hardware it works relatively well. That is only for small scenes, of course. For oceans and lakes realwave is better.
