From time to time software companies name their product by the year of release.... Did microsoft start this fashion?

But, especially smaller companies have difficulties to release always at the same time in the year. I have seen this a couple of times with some of the products I am using. For example e-onsoftware Vue, they wanted to make a GPU render engine and the year was almost out when they finally released something like in alpha stage....

Hey Guys,

I just got a response to question about a Learning Edition from TSN over at the official forum.

"The demo can be renewed multiple times, and there's actually no limit for the number of activations:
Launch the demo and create a license. After 30 days, when the demo has expired, just create a new demo license. "

Great news :) also Kudos for finding someone alive on the official forums

Quick question, how are granular sims meshed/rendered in C4D (or any 3D app) ? will there be a RFRK update to handle this?

Yes, it is a little strange.... their forum has a nice structure and could be a good resource, but somebody has to clean away the spam from time to time. Not even 5 minutes per day time for that :?:

Regarding the granular particles: In principle these are RPC files that can be read already now in C4DR17 with the particler object, but there might be a coming version of the render kit that makes use of their specific properties?

Hi

I've just tried to sim a simple hybrido scene in realflow 10 (try version) and my 2015. Just a box of particle and a sphere dropping down into it. 50 frames. And the funny this is that 2015 er 20% faster than 2010 , but nextLimit state that RF10 its twice as fast ? , i have ask them and wating for answer, if i am missing anything. But I have not change any setting , just out of the box. and beside that it looks like nextlimit are stopping doing anything new regarding large ocean sims :(

have any of you tried to compare the 2 version ?

/Stefan

2x faster with GPU i think, did you turn it on in sim settings?
I have only used RF10 Demo a little and with my gtx1070 the sim was faster.

yes I used openCl-GPU with a GTX 1080. I also tried it on another machine with a Titan card, same result

It is entirely possible that there is a performance difference between OpenCl and CUDA method, but this is not really documented as far as I know.
Personally I am on a Mac and there are anyway more problems. Cuda-method just crashed again here with a GTX970.

The only software I own that shows great advantages with Cuda so far is the fluid plugin "Turbulence FD" for Cinema4D.

:) well I just heard for NextLimit and there are no changes to the sim time in hybrido from 2015 to 10 , in fact they say it might be a little faster to use CPU. There are only speed improvement with dyverson But then I just don't understand this on their web side
