Re: Real Flow V2 and Octane Crashes

Thanks for your suggestions on RF|C4D 2.0. I've passed them over to our developers. We've also been able to reproduce the crashes with multiple GPUs and it seems as if it has something to do with TurbulenceFD. This doesn't mean that TFD is the culprit (in fact it's a super awesome plugin), but it's ...

Re: Real Flow V2 and Octane Crashes

Thanks for checking out and your patience. I've reported your observations to our developers and they're now trying to figure out a different solution. The reason for all this trouble is that RF|C4D tends to crash with multiple GPUs of the same type - in your case 2x GTX1080. We're aware of these cr...

Re: Real Flow V2 and Octane Crashes

Yes, the meshes do only show up at render time. Seems as if this is limitation of C4D's Python implementation. What you can do is to load a single mesh with another Alembic import to do all the look dev. Then you simply transfer the material to the mesh container that will be used by the script for ...

Re: Real Flow V2 and Octane Crashes

You're welcome. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but this script doesn't create any meshes, it will just load existing meshes one by one at render time: In the first step you simulate with the RF|C4D plugin as usual and cache your meshes. Then you close the simulation scene and load the one with the ...

Re: Real Flow V2 and Octane Crashes

Hey Monty, One of my colleagues has written a short Python script that lets you load Alembic mesh files from RF|C4D (or just RF) one by one at render time. I've added a C4D project file and a description how to use it. It's pretty easy, but you have to be a little careful with paths and names. But i...

Re: Question: tool for merging abc-files?

Unfortunately none I'm aware of. The only thing I know is some plain C++ source code on https://github.com/alembic/alembic/tree/master/bin/AbcStitcher Source code means that you have to compile it yourself and this requires the entire Alembic package + dependencies. I have browsed the internet sever...

Re: Real Flow V2 and Octane Crashes

Thanks for the feedback Monty. Your configuration supports our observations that two or more GPUs of the same type lead to crashes. Of course we'll try to fix this asap and we apologize for the trouble and inconvenience you have.

Re: Real Flow V2 and Octane Crashes

Hi Monty, Could you please provide some more infos on your system? Do you perhaps have multiple GPUs of the same type (e.g. 2x gtx1080) installed? It's also interesting to know which other plugins are installed, maybe Turbulence 4D and/or X-Particles? We have some reports of users experiencing crash...

Re: Granular_Test_

Hey, that's very nice. Would love to know more about the simulation specs though: things like simulation time, GPU, number of particles, render engine ;)

Re: Importing Alembic cache from Maya

This issue has been solved by reexporting the nodes via Cinema 4D's SD Exporter plugin.
